Stew Saddles up for New Zealand Riding for the Disabled

Writer's picture: Without LimitsWithout Limits

A few years ago Stew Sexton, who hails from Wellington, and I planned to hand cycle from Auckland to Wellington.  For a variety of reasons the event never went ahead but Stew kept on hand cycling and has done some other “runs” since, some for local and international charities.

In 2016 Stew, who was born with Spina Bifida and uses a manual wheelchair to get around, considered himself overweight and unfit so he decided to do something about it. He began “running” and competed in his first marathon in 2019.

His latest “run” carried out recently in his wheelchair was to wheel 100kms around the Wellington suburb of Eastbourne and raise funds for New Zealand Riding for the Disabled ("RDA"). He did it to thank the organisation for the life changing help and transferable skills he learnt while horse riding as a child. He raised just under $7,500.00.

If you would like to support Stew’s effort to raise funds for RDA, go to this Give A Little page "Stew Rides Again".
